Did you know...

If kids aren't writing and reading at grade level by the end of 2nd grade, most of them never catch up and face a very difficult future.

How you can help

Our goal is to bring our program to Dolores Huerta Elementary School in Los Angeles. We will work with 10 second graders on a weekly basis to teach them how to use their imaginations to write creative stories. During this process, they will learn how to become better writers and readers. At the end of the year, we will have professional actors perform their stories at a local bookstore or theatre.

About this nonprofit

Reading, Writing, It's Exciting (RWE) works with at-risk kids (ages 6-8) who need the most help with writing and reading. We teach them how to use their imaginations to write stories -- and as they're having fun with that, they're learning how to become better writers and readers. We also provide them with a memorable experience by arranging for professional actors to perform their stories.
