Did you know...

Hawksbills are a critically endangered species, their eggs are still eaten around the world despite the turtle’s international protected status.

How you can help

Hawksbills are hunted for their colorful shells for jewelry. The Research and Conservation Program at the Palm Beach Zoo, and marine biologists are provided with expensive GPS tracking equipment to ensure the safety and protection of these turtles. The Zoo’s Conservation Program is the only one in Florida to focus on this endangered turtle that resides on the coral reefs of southeast Florida.
